As a product of organic farming, it guarantees a pure aroma and carefully selected quality.
São Tomé and Príncipe is one of the smallest countries in the world, located off the coast of Gabon. In partnership with the island’s residents, we are helping to develop the cooperative that grows and processes organic peppers. Our organic white pepper from São Tomé benefits from an exceptional climate and incredible biodiversity, thanks to the jungle that covers most of the island.
Organic white pepper from São Tomé offers aromas that are both powerful and fresh, with intense herbal notes that enhance the flavor of poultry or white meats.
White pepper from São Tomé ranges in color from a lovely matte brownish-gray to a pale ivory white. When ground, white pepper is a cream- to grayish-colored powder that contains small gray specks inherent to the product.
Did you know? At the beginning of the 20th century, pepper was still unknown in São Tomé and Príncipe, but cocoa cultivation was predominant there—and in fact, it was one of the most productive among the colonies of the time. This tiny piece of land was then nicknamed «the chocolate pile.».
