Iris roots are thick, hard, beige-colored roots that vary in size. When ground into a powder, they range in color from off-white to beige. We know the iris for its ability to beautify our gardens, but its greatest qualities lie underground, in its rhizome.
In fact, iris root can easily be ground into powder and has expectorant and diuretic properties. It is also known for help babies soothe their gums by giving them a piece of root to chew on.
