NATURAL TONKA BEAN
NATURAL TONKA BEAN (Dipteryx odorata), an aromatic bean with warm, vanilla-like, and slightly spicy notes, is ideal for herbal teas, pastries, desserts, and artisanal creations. Prized for its stimulating and aromatic properties, it adds depth and character to all your culinary and natural creations. As a natural product, it guarantees carefully selected quality and authentic aromatic richness.
The tonka bean is a delicacy that lends itself to many dishes. With its caramelized flavor and hints of vanilla and coffee, this bean is a surefire way to elevate your dishes.
Once it has reached maturity, it is harvested. However, you still have to wait for it to dry before you can enjoy its unique flavor. At this stage, the seeds are wrinkled and about 3 centimeters long (and 1 centimeter wide).
It has only been a few years since the tonka bean has been given the recognition it deserves. In fact, many pastry chefs now use tonka beans to add the finishing touch to their creations.
In addition to the food industry, this delicious bean has already proven its worth in other sectors:
- the perfume shop for its sweet and complex scent
- the’tobacco industry for its fruity aroma
- in medicine, particularly for its mild anticoagulant properties
Did you know? Tonka wood is also sold commercially; it is called the teak.
