Native to Menton, our lemon is unique in that it is sweeter, while retaining intense aromas and an inimitable, moderate acidity. That is, in fact, the reason why Since 2015, Menton lemons have held PGI certification: Protected Geographical Indication.

Menton lemons have been grown since the fifteenth century. It wasn’t until the 18th century that Menton lemon cultivation reached its heyday. At that time, the Occitan town was known as the “lemon capital,” so much so that its lemons were exported as far as the United States and Russia.

Lemon peel comes in strips of varying sizes, orange-yellow on the outside and beige-white on the inside. It is sometimes slightly green or brown, depending on the fruit’s ripeness. It has the characteristic scent of lemon, though it is milder than that of fresh peel. The presence of pulp residue is inherent to the product. Lemon peel is sold in strips and pieces.
