Gunpowder green tea, known in English as « Gunpowder«, is a green tea native to China. What makes it unique is that it is rolled into small pellets, which, at the time, closely resembled gunpowder.
Gunpowder green tea is also widely used in traditional Moroccan green tea and in many Arab countries, where it is a symbol of good manners and hospitality.
Gunpowder has been produced since the Tang Dynasty (between the 7th and 10th centuries). It was later introduced to Taiwan during the 19th century.
