The rosehip (Rosa canine) is a species of thorny shrub belonging to the Rosaceae family. The rosehip is therefore the false fruit of the wild rose. It is a fleshy false fruit, varying in size, often wrinkled, and reddish-orange in color when ripe. When brewed as an infusion, rosehip petals are sometimes used to flavor pastries.
