Quassia Amara Eclats, also known as the Quuinine from Cayenne is a tropical plant in the family of Simaroubaceae. This tree has light gray bark; it is native to Latin America and grows in several regions, such as Brazil and French Guiana. The plant was introduced to French Guiana during the colonial era to treat slaves suffering from malaria.
Often used for its wood, this plant has many medicinal properties.
- She stimulates bowel movements and helps relieve digestive problems, relieves stomach pain, and has anthelmintic properties. The bark is steeped in rum to be used as a dewormer.
