The leaves are harvested by hand from wild plants between August and September. They are then left to dry in the open air.

Uva Ursi is a small subshrub with creeping, prostrate stems and alternate, evergreen, leathery, spatulate leaves that are rounded at the tip. These small, thick, leathery, entire leaves are spatulate at the tip and tapered at the base.
