Quassia Amara Eclats, also known as the Quuinine<\/span>\u00a0from Cayenne\u00a0is a tropical plant in the family of\u00a0Simaroubaceae<\/span>.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0This tree has light gray bark; it is native to Latin America and grows in several regions, such as Brazil and French Guiana.<\/span>\u00a0The plant was introduced to French Guiana during the colonial era to treat slaves suffering from malaria.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Often used for its wood, this plant has many medicinal properties.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

  • She\u00a0stimulates bowel movements and helps relieve digestive problems<\/strong>, relieves stomach pain, and has anthelmintic properties.<\/span>\u00a0The bark is steeped in rum to be used as a dewormer.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • She\u00a0helps stimulate the appetite<\/strong>\u00a0and an excellent ally in the fight against anorexia.<\/span>\u00a0In Suriname, cups are carved from the wood of the plant.<\/span>\u00a0Once carved, they are filled with alcohol or water and help stimulate the appetite.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
